Exciting Start!

We have had an exciting start to our school year! We enjoyed a visit from author Eric Velasquez on September 13.

We started writing "boot camp" as we begin learning about the writing process!

Finally, we earned enough stars on our homework to earn our learning choice time today!  Our first set of activities was a big hit! Working on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) bins was a popular choice today!

The kids are looking forward to earning more time to explore next week!

Exciting Week in Second Grade!

It has been an exciting week in second grade!  EVERY student in our class has been working hard on their reading and the hard work paid off when EVERYONE received a reading award at the AR assembly on Wednesday!  Here we are with our awards!

The students have also been working hard to get ready for their second grade concert this week.  The kids did a great job at the performance!  Here we are taking our turn "at the front"!

We are now diving into our last quarter of learning! Where has the time gone?

Second Grade Happenings!

We have been having a lot of fun in class practicing our new skills in reading, language and math!

We practiced our shapes AND addition skills playing "Shape Shuffle".

We practiced subtracting from 20 when we played "Silly Sweaters".

We practiced our mental math for addition by completing a "Watch, Think and Color" activity.  Our picture made an elf when we were done!

We worked on several "Roam the Room" activities to get up and moving while practicing identifying the difference between common and proper nouns, practicing our measuring and place value, as well as identifying the difference between facts and opinions.

We also used our interactive whiteboard and projector to practice math.

Have a fantastic, fun-filled winter break!
